Dr. Umakanth Varottil
An expert in corporate law, governance, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance, with a focus on India and Singapore. Holds degrees from the National Law School of India University, the New York University School of Law, and the National University of Singapore. He has authored and co-edited six books, published widely in international journals, and founded the IndiaCorpLaw Blog. He serves as editor for several prominent publications, including the Oxford Business Law Blog, Indian Law Review, Asian Journal of Comparative Law, and Singapore Journal of Legal Studies. He also serves as a Research Member of the European Corporate Governance Institute.

Mr. Stewart Maiden KC
Leading Australian barrister specialising in complex commercial litigation, with a focus on cross-border and domestic insolvency, fiduciary disputes, banking, finance, and corporate control matters. Authored “Insolvent Investments”(2015), contributes to McPherson’s “Law of Company Liquidation”, and serves on the editorial boards of major insolvency journals. A Fellow of INSOL International, he is the Australian national correspondent for CLOUT (UNCITRAL) and has held prominent roles on various legal committees, including the Victorian Bar Council and the Legal Costs Committee.

Dr. Neeti Shikha
Holds a PhD from National Law University Jodhpur in area of corporate governance. She has completed her LLM from University College London, UK. She has held academic positions at various law and business schools in India and Singapore.
Previously, an assistant professor at IMT Ghaziabad, India’s leading business school. She also worked as an Assistant Professor &Director, Centre for Corporate and Commercial Laws at National Law University Jodhpur, followed by her stint at Fore School of Management. She has held visiting positions at IIM Rohtak and IIFT, New Delhi.

Mr. Debanshu Mukherjee
As the Co-Founder of Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy, he has over a decade of experience in commercial law and financial regulation. He holds degrees from Harvard Law School (as a Fulbright Scholar), Oxford University, and HNLU, earning distinctions like the Irving Oberman Memorial Prize. He played a pivotal role in advising the Government of India on the design, drafting, and implementation of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code and contributed to developing Vidhi’s programs on insolvency, corporate, and competition law.

Dr. Surbhi Kapur
Dr. Surbhi Kapur is an Associate Professor at Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University, with a distinguished academic background from NALSAR University of Law and GGSIPU, New Delhi. She previously led the Centre for Insolvency and Bankruptcy at the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs and has held research positions with the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India and the High Court of Delhi. Dr. Kapur specializes in international law, insolvency, and commercial laws, with numerous publications and contributions to legislative drafting for the Indian government. She has represented India at the INSOL Europe Academic Forum and was a Visiting Scholar at Pace University, USA.
